Bamboo bedding – what is important to know?

Posted by Enjoy Base on

Bamboo products, including bamboo bedding, are finally making their way into our lives. Bamboo is a fast-growing, renewable grass-like plant that, when processed, transforms into silk-soft bedding. This product is relatively new, so we invite you to discover a few interesting facts about it.

A More Sustainable Choice

We often don’t think about how products reach us or how they’re made. Producing bamboo fabric emits half the CO2 compared to cotton production. Additionally, the bamboo plant itself is known for releasing 35% more oxygen than trees and grows much faster.

While bamboo bedding is often compared to silk for its softness, these two fabrics stand on opposite sides of the spectrum. Silk is a fiber spun by silkworms to create cocoons – outer shells that protect them during the pupal stage. However, in the silk industry, most of these insects don’t survive this process – approximately 6,600 silkworms die to produce just 1 kilogram of silk. Bamboo, on the other hand, is a completely natural material, and when produced ethically, it has no negative impact on the environment.

Hypoallergenic Fabric

If you have sensitive skin, allergies, asthma, or struggle with skin conditions, bamboo bedding should be your top choice. Eco-friendly and naturally soft, bamboo bedding doesn’t irritate the skin and offers an exceptionally gentle and pleasant texture. It excels at moisture retention and temperature regulation, while also being highly resistant to dust mites, ensuring your body remains in complete comfort.

Bamboo vs other Materials

Bamboo is twice as soft as cotton and outperforms it by absorbing moisture about three times better. Bamboo bedding shares similarities with linen – it becomes even softer with each wash.

While you may also love silk bedding, bamboo fabric has an edge – it’s highly breathable and adapts well to fluctuating body temperatures. Plus, caring for bamboo bedding is much simpler: it can be machine-washed at 30°C, unlike silk, which typically cannot.

Resource conservation, antibacterial properties, rapid moisture absorption, sustainability, durability, breathability, and vibrant colors that last even after numerous washes – all of this defines bamboo bedding.
